This article walks through importing a CSV of ticket data into fu3e. To learn how to create a CSV using a template, please visit How do I use a template to import a CSV?
There are multiple ways that you can upload your data into fu3e via a CSV file ranging from importing tickets to a single project, across multiple projects simultaneously, or even to existing tickets.
The method for each of these options differs not only in where you import the file but also in what columns are within the file.
- Single project: Navigate to the project and select the form to which you wish to import tickets.
- Multiple projects: Using the left navigation sidebar, select ‘Forms’ and then the form for which you wish to import tickets. The CSV file must also contain the project reference number column
- Updating existing tickets: This can be done for either a single project or multiple projects, however, the CSV file must also contain the ticket reference number column.
Once on the ticket list, click the ‘Import CSV’ button above the list and select your CSV file for import.
You will then be presented with the fu3e import wizard where columns from your CSV need to be mapped to the ticket fields in fu3e. As long as the column headers in your CSV file match the names of the fields, they will be automatically mapped, or you can simply use the drop-down to select the appropriate field.
If updating existing tickets, ensure the Ticket Reference field is mapped and the Ticket Status field is left empty.
Please be careful when updating data via CSV as the file will overwrite data exactly as it is within the file. This means that if a cell is left blank on the file, it will remove the data for that field.
If you are importing data into new tickets, leave the Ticket Reference field empty and ensure to set the Ticket Status field and, if required, set an assignee for the task. Click the import CSV button to begin the importing process.
If the ticket reference column is empty, the system will create a new ticket for that row of data, if the row has a ticket reference, it will update that ticket. You may do this at the same time, using only one CSV file.
This process may take longer with more data.
Once successfully imported a confirmation message will be shown. The data from the new tickets will be available in the list and will contribute to any appropriate dashboards once that dashboard data is refreshed.
If there are any errors, then descriptions will be provided so that these can be corrected. If you require any assistance, please contact our support team.
