Importing Data via CSV
Upload your data into fu3e using a CSV file to create new tickets or update existing information across multiple projects.
- Importing to a Single Project:
- Navigate to the specific project.
- Select the form to which you want to import tickets.
- Importing to Multiple Projects:
- Use the left navigation sidebar and select 'Forms'.
- Choose the form for which you want to import tickets.
- Ensure your CSV file contains a column for the project reference number.
- Updating Existing Tickets:
- This can be done for both single and multiple projects.
- Ensure your CSV file contains a column for the ticket reference number.
Import Process
- Initiate the Import:
- Once you are on the ticket list, click the 'Import CSV' button located above the list.
- Select your CSV file for import.
- Mapping CSV Columns:
- You will see the fu3e import pop-up window.
- Map the columns from your CSV to the corresponding ticket fields in fu3e.
- If the column headers in your CSV match the field names in fu3e, they will be auto-mapped.
- Otherwise, use the drop-down menus to select the appropriate fields manually.
- Updating Existing Tickets:
- Ensure the 'Ticket Reference' field is mapped.
- Leave the 'Ticket Status' field empty.
- Importing Data into New Tickets:
- Ensure the 'Ticket Reference' field is empty.
- Set the 'Ticket Status' field and, if necessary, assign an assignee for the task.
- Start the Import:
- Click the 'Import CSV' button to begin the process.
- Click the 'Import CSV' button to begin the process.
Important Notes
- Overwriting Data: Be cautious when updating data via CSV, as the file will overwrite data exactly as shown. Empty cells in the CSV will clear existing data in fu3e for those fields.
- Creating and Updating in One CSV: If the 'Ticket Reference' column is empty, a new ticket will be created for that row. If it contains a reference, the system will update the existing ticket. Both actions can be performed using a single CSV file.
- Larger data sets will take longer to import.
Once successfully imported a confirmation message will be shown. The data from the new tickets will be available in the list and will contribute to any appropriate dashboards once that dashboard data is refreshed.
